Eligibility

Open to high-school and university teams for the 2026–2027 season.

Team requirements

A minimum of two students per team with an adult coach or supervisor affiliated with the participating institution.

The challenge

Competition format

  • Identify a meaningful local or global problem
  • Research and develop an original, feasible, and sustainable solution
  • Build and test a working prototype when applicable
  • Present and demonstrate the project to the judging panel

Before you compete

Rules & requirements

  • One original project per team
  • A documented engineering or development process
  • Project report and presentation materials
  • Software, prototype, demonstration, website, or introductory video as applicable to the project
  • The KNRC General Rules published on the main website apply
