Team requirements
VEX IQ requires a minimum of three students. VEX V5 and VEX U require a minimum of two students under the KNRC General Rules. All other eligibility and competition requirements follow the latest official VEX manuals.

- VEX IQ · Elementary and middle school · 2026–2027 game: Level Up
- VEX V5 · High school · 2026–2027 game: Override
- VEX U · University · Override with the official VEX U rules and appendix
The challenge
Competition format
- VEX IQ: teamwork matches, driving skills, and autonomous coding skills
- VEX V5: alliance matches with autonomous and driver-controlled periods
- VEX U: university-level V5 competition under the official VEX U modifications
Before you compete
Rules & requirements
- VEX IQ teams must have at least three student members
- VEX V5 and VEX U teams must have at least two student members under KNRC rules
- Teams must comply with the latest official manual and official Q&A rulings
- Only legal VEX components and robots that pass inspection may compete
- The KNRC General Rules published on the main website also apply
- Teams are responsible for checking manual updates before every KNRC event
